
Did you know
that there is a Trade Publication covering every
Industry and Trade area there is from Technical and
Industrial to Professional and Merchandising,
Hospitality, Transportation and even "Special"
Trades some of which you may, or may not be familiar
with, or even knew that existed?
Most of these Trade
Publication are highly specialized in their
depth of coverage for their particular individual
Industry and the professionals they serve within those
Industries.
The majority of
Trade Publication in the market today can be subscribed
to for free
when you belong to that particular Industry or
profession, although there are some very specialized
Publications that do charge for a subscription
regardless of your Industry involvement.
Keep in mind
that whether established or new, a Trade
Publication can go from being free of charge
to their subscribers, sometimes for years, to charging a
Monthly or annual fee for a subscription due to
changes within their Publishing Environment, Industry,
competition, budget constrains and other factors playing
a major role but not known to the subscriber.
Also worth
noting, a Trade Publication face most if not more of the
same challenges that Consumer Magazines/Publications
face due in part to the narrow market they serve.
Some have
found, their "niche" gives them tremendous
staying power and longevity. Others, are swallowed by
larger or aggressive Publishing companies seeking to
expand their roster of existing titles, merging some titles and sometimes, ceasing publication
all together of newly acquired competing ones and or, of
less profitable titles and yet, others just simply, go
out of business.
While the Trade
Publishing business is fiercely competitive with dozen
of Publications going out of business each year and many
new ones entering the playing field, this gives the
Industry balance, allowing for the introduction of new
titles with fresh ideas that in many instances better
serve a given Industry or Profession.
Although
chances are that you are already familiar or undoubtedly
have heard of one or more Trade
Publication or Magazine fitting your
profession or Industry, don't be surprise if you
discover other publications that you were not aware of
(if you have not already been target-marketed for one)
that are also serving your Industry, that closely
overlap or intertwine with your Industry, or that just
simply may be of interest to you and your profession
regardless of affiliation.
